The design concept for my Sou Fujimoto booklet reflects an exploration of his architectural philosophy through a visual and conceptual framework. Inspired by Fujimoto's interplay of nature and structure, the booklet employs a geometric, cube-based, and minimalistic approach that mirrors his balance between complexity and simplicity. The color palette—grey, black, white, and green—draws from Fujimoto’s harmonization of natural and man-made elements. Grey and black embody the urban and structural aspects of his work, while green symbolizes the organic integration of nature within his spaces. White acts as a canvas, evoking the openness and lightness that define his architectural designs. To enhance the clarity and functionality of the booklet, I chose a Bauhaus-style monotype typeface. Its clean lines and utilitarian nature align with Fujimoto’s emphasis on form following function, while also nodding to the Bauhaus movement’s influence on modern design. The layout emphasizes modularity and hierarchy, with a grid-based structure and cube motifs that reflect Fujimoto’s layered, interconnected spaces. By maintaining a minimalistic aesthetic, the design allows Fujimoto’s ideas to take center stage, paralleling his ability to create spaces that inspire contemplation and exploration. This booklet serves as a visual translation of Sou Fujimoto’s architectural ethos, creating a balance between abstraction and grounded reality.
