Project Brief
Convo is an AI-powered email tool built around the idea that writing is relational, not transactional. Instead of asking users to repeatedly prompt for tone, context, or phrasing, Convo learns communication patterns across recipients and generates emails that feel more natural, socially aware, and personalized. The project explored how AI can reduce writing friction while preserving user control, trust, and authenticity.
Problem & Why It Matters
AI writing tools can generate text quickly, but often fail to understand who users are writing to and how relationships influence communication. This creates repetitive prompting, generic responses, and uncertainty around tone, especially in higher-stakes conversations. Convo reframes email writing as a context-aware experience by helping users communicate with greater confidence, reducing decision fatigue and making professional and personal communication feel faster, more intentional, and more human.
Research & Design Decisions
I explored existing AI communication tools, interaction patterns, and user pain points around tone selection, context switching, and editing effort. Insights showed users wanted less prompting, clearer guidance, and outputs that reflected how they naturally communicate. In response, I designed an agentic workflow centered around relationship awareness, contextual memory, and editable AI suggestions. The experience prioritizes fast onboarding, transparent controls, and structured information hierarchy to keep users in control while reducing cognitive effort.
Outcome & Key Learnings
The final concept demonstrates how AI can move beyond content generation into adaptive communication support. By combining context, intent, and user oversight, Convo creates a more efficient and personalized email-writing experience. This project strengthened my ability to design AI-first products, translate behavioral insights into interaction patterns, and balance automation with trust, an increasingly important skill set for modern UX and product design roles.
